2x new matter types and Public Law updates

2 NEW MATTER TYPES AVAILABLE IN LEAP

New Matter Type – Supreme Court Appeal

We’ve created a new Supreme Court Appeal matter type within the existing Litigation & Disputes area of law. It’s designed for appeals to New Zealand’s final appellate court, whether from the Court of Appeal or direct from the High Court.

This matter type is to be used for appeals to the Supreme Court from decisions of the Court of Appeal or, where leave is granted, the High Court.

The Court Details table now has a new Lower court details tab, so you can record the details of the decision under appeal alongside the Supreme Court proceeding.

Public Law Area of Law Updates

We’ve reorganised the Public Law area of law into subfolders, so related matter types are grouped together and easier to find, and in preparation for adding new matter types in the future.

  • Public Law now has four subfolders: ACC, Coroners Court (new), Local Government and Regulatory & Licensing (new).
  • ACC Dispute has moved into the ACC subfolder, and Local Government into the Local Government subfolder.
  • Liquor Licensing has moved from Commercial to Public Law > Regulatory & Licensing.
  • Public Law General sits on its own under Public Law, outside the subfolders.

New Matter Type – Coronial Inquiry

We’ve created a new Coronial Inquiry matter type in the new Coroners Court subfolder under Public Law. It’s designed for firms acting in coronial matters under the Coroners Act 2006, from the initial investigation through to inquest.
