Open a Prompt the same way you would open any other precedent. Use the folder that matches the side of the transaction you are acting on, as each Prompt is written from that perspective.

When a Prompt opens correctly, Microsoft Word opens with the Prompt in the document on the left and the Matter AI for Word pane on the right. If you can see the Prompt but no pane, the Prompt itself is working and it is the pane that has not loaded.

Try the following:

• Open the Prompt from inside LEAP, through Forms & Precedents. Opening a saved copy of the document from Word, from your desktop or from a file location will not load the pane.
• Close Microsoft Word completely, then reopen the Prompt from LEAP. The pane will not load into a Word session that was already open beforehand.
• Select the Matter AI for Word add-in from the Add-ins section in Word.

If the pane still does not appear, this is a set-up matter rather than a fault with the Prompt. Contact Client Support at support@leaplegalsoftware.co.nz. Support can confirm that Matter AI for Word is installed and enabled for your user, and remote in if needed.

The feature is Populate from correspondence. It reads the documents saved to the matter, such as the Agreement for Sale and Purchase and the title, and suggests values for the fields in the matter details.

You can:

• Accept all the suggestions.
• Reject them.
• Work through each suggestion individually.

It shows which document each suggestion came from. It is not yet available on every matter layout. If you cannot see it on your property layout, ensure your LEAP is updated to the latest version, and if the issue persists contact our Support team. See also Completing Your Matter - the Importance of Entering in the Data.

Pre-population is already available on some matter layouts, and the details captured there flow through into automated LEAP document fields where applicable. It has not yet been extended to all LEAP fields.

The Content team is continuing to roll this out across matter layouts in the New Zealand areas of law. Timing will be confirmed through LEAP Announcements in the Help Centre.

At the bottom of the Matter AI for Word pane there are two options:

• Copy places the formatted response on your clipboard.
• Insert In places it directly into a new letter on the matter.

Use Copy first if you want to keep the draft available. The Prompt closes when you use Insert In.

Not directly. A Prompt cannot populate into a draft email at present, and Insert In creates a letter rather than an email.

The current approach is to:

• Run the Prompt and refine the draft until you are happy with it.
• Copy the response from the Matter AI for Word pane.
• Paste it into a new email on the matter.

There are two options, depending on whether you want the change once or every time.

For this letter only, use the chat in the Matter AI for Word pane and ask for it, for example: number the paragraphs in this letter. The draft will regenerate with the change.

For every letter produced from that Prompt:

• Right-click the Prompt in Forms & Precedents and select Duplicate.
• Right-click your copy and select Edit Precedent.
• Scroll to the Rules section, which sets numbering, headings and paragraph structure, and amend it.
• Save and close, giving a reason as you would for any precedent.

Your firm's copy will not receive LEAP updates automatically, so it is worth checking the LEAP version periodically for changes.

There can be a few reasons why a Prompt generates more slowly than expected.

• Matter AI may be reading the details and correspondence on the matter for the first time. If the matter holds a large number of emails and documents, the first response can take longer.
• The Prompt may require complex reasoning. Where a Prompt is working through detailed analysis, it takes longer to formulate an answer.
• The model selected affects speed.

You can choose which model runs a Prompt. In the Matter AI for Word pane, click the arrow beside Reload and select Switch model.

• GPT Instant is fast and efficient, for everyday questions and quick lookups.
• GPT Thinking reasons carefully through complex, multi-step problems where precision matters.
• Claude Sonnet balances speed and quality across drafting, document review and everyday legal tasks.
• Claude Opus is the most capable option, for high-stakes work, nuanced legal reasoning and lengthy documents.

The two reasoning models take longer by design. If a Prompt feels slow, check which model is selected.

The Sale of Business Prompt is a Commercial Prompt rather than a property one, so it sits in the Commercial folder of the Prompt Library rather than with the Conveyancing & Property set.

Prompts are context based and are written for specific scenarios. Before running one, check that:

• You have opened the Prompt from the correct matter type.
• The matter details have been populated.
• The relevant matter documents have been saved to the matter.

If it still will not generate, report it with the matter number through the Provide Feedback button in the top right of the LEAP ribbon, or to Client Support, so it can be investigated further.

No. Prompts are designed to work with the underlying documents on a matter rather than to create them, and drafting the Agreement itself is not a use case our Content team has developed.

The Agreement for Sale and Purchase of Real Estate is a published form and is available through Forms & Precedents in the usual way.

A Prompt produces a first draft for review. It cannot determine the correct legal or tax treatment for a transaction. That remains a matter for the responsible practitioner.

Not reliably, and the draft should not be relied on to have picked them up.

Matter AI reads PDF, Word and Excel documents, email correspondence and legible handwritten documents saved to the matter. Handwritten amendments and struck-through wording on a scanned agreement are a different matter and are not consistently interpreted.

Check the draft against the executed agreement wherever the parties have amended it by hand. Each fact in the draft carries a reference back to its source document, so amended clauses are quick to verify.

If you have a specific example where an amendment was missed, please send feedback to our Content team using the Matter Type and Form Feedback form. This helps improve how the Prompts handle amended agreements.

This request can be logged with the Content team. If there is a letter your firm produces on most files and no Prompt exists for it, that is the sort of request the team wants.

There are two ways to send one:

• Provide Feedback in the top right of the LEAP ribbon, which sends the details of the Prompt you are working in straight to the team who wrote it.
• The Matter Type and Form Feedback form, or email content@leaplegalsoftware.co.nz.
