How To

Learn how to manage matter details and correspondence from LEAP's default tab. Explore features such as creating and sorting new documents, calling and messaging, access the LEAP Timesheet along with various other features found on the matter ribbon.

When you open a matter, the Details & Correspondence tab is displayed by default. The Details & Correspondence tab (1 in the graphic below) of your matter contains two sections:

Matter Details (2 in the graphic below), and
Matter Correspondence (3 in the graphic below).

All matter details, client details and table types are listed in the Details section. All the correspondence for a matter is listed on the Correspondence section. If you want to return to the matter list, click User-added image to bring the list to the front.

View the Matter Details Summary

Click 4 as shown in the graphic above to open the matter details.

Compact View

You can set the matter details to display in a more compact view with the information appearing on the right-hand side of the Details section.

Right-click an entry within the Details section.
Click Compact View.

Multiple Roles

You can easily have an existing card on a matter be added to the other roles in that matter.

Right-click the card and select Set 'Name of Card' as.
In the Select Table window, tick the relevant role(s).

Sort Correspondence

Sort documents either by created date or modified date by clicking User-added image in the top right-hand corner of the Correspondence List and selecting Show Created Date or Show Modified Date.

View a Document

Double-click a document listed in the Correspondence List to open it. Most documents open in the application they were created in, PDF files open in your default PDF viewer.

Preview a Document

There are two ways to preview a document:

Hover over the document and click .
Right-click the document and select Preview.

Email

Email options in a matter will vary depending on the matter tab you are in. For example, in the Details & Correspondence tab, the Email option will create a new email whilst in the Office Accounting tab, it will allow for multiple email options relevant to Office Accounting features.

Print

Print options in a matter also vary depending on the matter tab you are in.

Details & Correspondence Tab: Print options include Matter Details or Document List.
Office Accounting Tab: Offers print options relevant to accounting features.

To print the document list or comments in a matter:

Click the down arrow next to the Print icon in the Details & Correspondence tab.
Select Print Document List or Print Comments from the dropdown menu.

This allows you to print the matter details, list of documents or comments related to the matter. User-added image

Reload
The reload option User-added image will refresh the local copy of items added to the relevant tab. For example, in the Details & Correspondence tab, the Reload option will refresh the list of correspondence items recently added whilst in the Calendar & Tasks tab, it will reload the task list and appointments added.

LEAP Timesheet
The LEAP Timesheet button User-added image is now available on all matter tabs. You can quickly launch the LEAP Timesheet application from any matter tab.

Matter Notifications

The matter notifications window is used to view upcoming, current and previous notifications for the relevant matter in one convenient place.

Matter Ribbon

The matter ribbon has relevant actions are grouped together.

New Document

New letter and more document types are now in one place under New Document. You can now set the window to automatically default to your preferred document type. Once set, the Create Document window will open with your default document type already selected.

When you open a matter, you'll find it very similar to LEAP on your desktop, with the matter tabs along the top below the LEAP navigation bar.

The Details & Correspondence tab (1 in the graphic below) of your matter contains two sections:

Click to edit heading

You can adjust and resize the Matter Details pane using the panel slider .
You can expand or collapse the table types in the Details pane by clicking the drop down arrow to the left of the table type.

All associated tasks that you can do in the Details & Correspondence tab are located in the LEAP Ribbon.

Click the Matter Details (4 in the graphic above) or to open the Additional Matter Details.

You'll be able to modify your matter details here.

Click an option from the Details panel on the left-hand side to access the various associated fields. Make sure you click Save once you've finished making changes.

All your table types are listed in the Details section.

To modify a table type, click it to open the associated card or form.

The following options can be accessed from either the right-click menu on an open matter table type or card, or by clicking More options icon at the end of the row for the selected matter item.

Option	Description
Open	Open the card or details of the matter so that you can view or edit it.
New Card	Create a new card that will be included along with the existing card. For instance, there may be two buyers on a purchase matter and you wish to create separate cards for them.
Add Existing Card	Select this option to include an existing card in addition to the current card. You'll be able to select a card from your Cards List.
Email to	Send an email to the person/company.
Letter to	Create a letter addressed to the person/company.
New Debtor Card	Create a new debtor card that will be included along with the existing card.
Select Debtor Card	Select this option to include an existing debtor card.
Replace	This option is only available for cards, so you can replace the existing person/organisation with a newly created card.
Remove	Removes the selected card from the matter.

Once you've signed in, you'll see the Home screen.

Tap or search for a matter then open it to view its:
- Details
- Correspondence
- Schedule
- Financial Summary
- Time & Fees
- Cost Recoveries
- Office Accounting
- Trust Funds
Swipe across the tabs to get to the information you need about the matter.
Tapnext to any table type to access more actions.
Tap a person or item listed on any of the tabs to open the associated card or details.
Tap (where available) on any tab of a matter to access more actions.
Tap in the top left-hand corner to go back to your Matter List.
