LEAP is currently only partially compatible with New Outlook. While you can still perform essential tasks including saving emails to a matter, removing them, and changing the matter an email is saved to, more advanced automation features are not available in New Outlook at this stage.

For the best experience and full functionality, we highly recommend you continue to use Classic Outlook, for access to all Outlook automation features.

Save Emails to a Matter

How to save emails from Outlook to a LEAP matter:

To save emails to a matter, open Microsoft Outlook and select the email you wish to save to a matter.

If you want to save multiple emails to a matter, select the first email and then press the Ctrl key on your keyboard and select the other emails you wish to save to an individual matter.

Click to edit heading

You can select and save a maximum of 100 emails at a time (the same limit that applies when exporting items out of LEAP).
Click LEAP - Save to Matter on the Home ribbon to display a list of matters. (Old Outlook/Classic Outlook only)

LEAP window with matter list will open.

Click to edit heading

If AutoTime (Matter Activity Recording) is enabled, you will see a Billable toggle next to the Select button. If you want to auto-record and charge for saving the email, enable the Billable toggle.
From the list, select the matter where you want to save the email(s).

Click Select Folder if you want to save the email(s) to a folder within the matter. Select the folder and then click OK.

Click to edit heading

If the matter has a Default Email Folder set, the email will automatically be saved to that folder.
If the email contains any attachments, click Attachment Options to deselect the attachments you don't wish to include in the email.
Click OK.

The email moves from your Microsoft Outlook Inbox to the Inbound LEAP Matter Based Emails folder.

The LEAP Inbound/Outbound matter-based folder is designed to work with the main email account, as LEAP integrates with only one default email account. If you attempt to save emails from any secondary inboxes, they will not be moved to the Inbound LEAP Matter Based Emails folder.

Click to edit heading

To save an email attachment directly to a matter in LEAP without downloading it or saving it to your device:

Right-click on the attachment in the email.
Select Save Attachment to Matter from the menu.
Select the appropriate matter to save the attachment.

Click to edit heading

Note: Using Save to Matter is the tested and recommended way to save emails. You can still drag and drop emails directly into a matter, but this method hasn't been fully tested, so we can't guarantee it will work as expected.

Re-save an Email to a Different Matter

Open your Microsoft Outlook and select the email that has already been saved to a LEAP matter but that you wish to re-save to a different matter. The email may be located in the Inbound LEAP Matter Based Emails folder.
Click LEAP - Matter #Matter No. (where #Matter No. is the number saved to the matter).
Select Change Matter to display a list of matters.
Select the matter to which the email will be re-saved and click OK.

The email is moved from the original matter to the new matter.
