How To

Location: LEAP Menu > Reports > Trust > Trust Trial Balance

Purpose: List of Trust ledger account balances by matter as of a specified 'At Date', for the selected Trust Bank Account. The report includes the Trust Bank Account's total ledger accounts balance, FIT balance, Reconciled Cash Book balance and Variance at the conclusion. The Trust Trial Balance Report lists all matters with funds held in Trust and allows you to view a trust account's combined balance across multiple matters.

Report Trigger: Users can choose to include either 'Matter with balances only' or 'Matter with balances and/or transactions'. The report excludes a matter which has a nil balance or no transaction entered under the selected bank account as of the specified 'At Date'.

The report generated is labeled as ‘Interim’ to distinguish it from the final report produced by the Account End of Month (EOM) process for the same trust bank account. The final report can be retrieved through the LEAP Menu > Reports > Trust Reporting > Trust End of Month > View Previous Trust EOM. Report Filters:

At Date	Displays the relevant matters' balances as of the selected date.
Bank Account	Allows users to choose a Trust Bank Account to report on.
Matter With	Displays matters that meet one of the following two conditions: With balances only: the report only includes matters containing a balance up to the selected 'At Date'. With balances and/or transactions: the report includes matters that contain a balance as of the specified date or transactions as of the selected 'At Date'.
Display	Includes two display options: Order By: Sorts the results by: Matter No. Client Last Name Group By: Groups the results by: None Staff Acting Staff Responsible

Report Fields:

Matter No.	The matter number.
Client	The matter's client.
Matter Description	The description of the matter.
Last Transaction Date	The transaction date of the last Trust transaction recorded on the matter as of the specified 'At Date'.
Amount	The Trust ledger account balance for the matter as of the specified 'At Date'. NOTE: The ledger balance of a matter determined by accounting for transactions entered up to the specified date. A transaction can only impact the balance when the specified 'At Date' encompasses the transaction's Entry Date. For example, if a Trust payment is dated 01/04/2023 but is recorded on 25/04/2023, the transaction will only affect the ledger balance for chosen 'At Date' starting from 25/04/2023 and onwards.
Comparison	Located at the bottom of the report (downloaded version), displaying: Total Client Ledger Accounts: The selected trust bank account's total account balance as of the 'At Date'. FIT Balance: The selected trust bank account's FIT balance as of the 'At Date'. Reconciled Cash Book: Reconciled Cash Book Balance as of the 'At Date'. Variance (should be Nil): Variance between reconciled Cash Book Balance and System Cash Book Balance as of the 'At Date'.
